Inspiration
"I've always been keen to understand what Literature is really all about, how it works, what its true purpose is.
Early heroes such as Kafka gave me the impetus to understand what made them such great, and diverse writers.
Despite that, I still harboured a disturbing notion that the modern approach to writing and Literature somehow managed to avoid deeper questions."
Progress To Date
With the focus being on Shakespeare and Theatre, my interest in writing largely went into a lull.
That notwithstanding, I continued to read about Literature, and what makes it the force it is, which convinced me that my early suspicions were correct.
My time developing the Alternative approach then gave me the confidence to be radical in my writing.
Current Focus
Kafka is the focus - is it possible to pick up where he left off, creating new works out of old? Early efforts indicate it is.
Another aspect, one that fits in with AlternativeShakespeare, is to develop the notion of Flash Fiction which is, more in
tune with some of today's readers.
The third arm is to turn our Theatre scripts into Playbooks, combining the intensity and in-the-moment quality of Theatre with the power of the narrative.
Inspiration
"As a writer struggling to find a genre and a voice, I wrote a film script about Shakespeare
haunting a 20th-C writer.
From that came the idea that maybe I too might benefit from learning from the greatest writer in the world.
Out of that came my first play, Time After Time, a night in the life of William Shakespeare when characters from his play and real came to haunt his dreams."
Progress To Date
For over 20 years we have been developing our understanding of alternativeShakespeare.
In that time we have written and performed Shakespeare sequels, plays focusing on his life, and plays exploring aspects of his craft.
The result is an Alternative methodology that seeks to keep the legacy he left us a living legacy.

Current Focus
We are in the process of adapting our plays to work in the digital arena on YouTube.
This requires upgrading videos of our
alternativeShakespeare performances, creating eduVideos, and making our work Social Media friendly.
We are also refocusing our alternative approach to other writers and students of Literature.
Inspiration
"Working within Shakespeare and Theatre has led to a deep understanding of the power of the spoken word.
Today's world of Audio offers so many opportunities to writers and their audiences. It also offers a chance for Theatre and Literature to come together."
Current Focus
We are looking to students for help creating audio pieces, as well as our new podcast episodes.
Our finished pieces will also find a home in our new YouTube channel, along with the rest of our videos.
Progress To Date
An important by-products of our journey
through our alternativeShakespeare, we have come back to Shakespeare's Theatre as an auditory experience.
For the last few months, we have workshops that record audio Micro Alternative Shakespeare pieces.
We are also creating a Podcast series out of Zoom workshop material - Thinking Creatively, Alternatively - giving people the chance to see how we create new Theatre, Shakespeare, Words, in an alternative way.
